Paper strips and Glitter Spay Paint

I built this structure with strips of drawing paper and clear gesso. Then spray painted with gold glitter and some crazy orange color. I found a bunch of cans for craft spray paint in the garage and am putting them to use. Working with the strips of paper feels like drawing. They are soaked in wet medium then added to the structure. So depending on the orientation of the object, they fall, curl and bend in compelling ways across the structure. It feels like drawing, the negatives spaces are as important as the positive. For me, the resulting object signals a deconstructed pinata form. A theme I've been painting and building in exploratory sculptural work for years. I placed my hand there to show scale, so they are pretty small. But, I believe they have a monumental feel to them.
